Minister Bahlil Ensures Coal Gasification Project Runs Smoothly

Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia visited the location of the coal-to-methanol gasification project in East Kutai, East Kalimantan.

Not only that, Bahlil said the direct review was aimed at ensuring the company had carried out downstream as a condition for extending the contract for the coal supply company. The company in question is PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), as the owner of a coal mining area in Bengalon District, East Kutai, East Kalimantan. KPC will be the coal supplier for the gasification facility. In addition, a review was carried out on the mining area to ensure environmental balance and how the investment is going in the East Kutai area, East Kalimantan. “Downstreaming must be carried out immediately because this is a direct order from the President. Every PKP2B [Coal Mining Concession Work Agreement] that will be extended must provide a portion of the allocation for Indonesia's development," said Bahlil as quoted from the official broadcast
