Director General of Mineral and Coal Ridwan Djamaluddin said the government's reason for banning coal exports as of January 1, 2022 was to meet PLN's critical coal needs. This export ban is not only to secure coal supply, but also to secure ships and barges for domestic purposes. Ridwan said, usually if there is a sale abroad, of course the ship will be operated for export activities. "We have closed everything so that there are no exceptions. If there are exceptions, it will be difficult for us to control these exceptions. Again, this export ban is temporary and emergency management is to ensure domestic supplies," he said at a virtual press conference,
