Telkomsel and Smartfren Tighten SIM Card Sales Standardization

Cellular operators such as Telkomsel and Smartfren take various ways to suppress the circulation of prime cards or SIM cards that are already active, aka recycling.
This effort was made to support government regulations to suppress the circulation of active cards while simultaneously reducing the risk of fraud. Previously, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) banned cellular operators and distributors from selling recycled SIM cards to prevent fraud. Cellular operators Telkomsel and Smartfren said they would follow the rules. Vice President of Corporate Communications Telkomsel Denny Abidin said, since the ban on the sale of active SIM cards was enforced, the company admitted to following up with various efforts. One of them, tightening the standard of selling SIM cards to the reseller level. Also read "This is to ensure that from service provision to distribution to the reseller level, none of Telkomsel's card products are active,"
