Smartfren: It's useless if 5G is only for chat

This is because this 5G network promises a lot of things with high speed and low latency capabilities. "It's a shame if the 5G network will only be enjoyed on mobile phones to watch movies, videos, especially if it's just for chatting," said Merza, in the 5G Smartfren network test event, which was held online, Merza continued, if 5G is only to serve things that are entertainment like that, the 4G network is considered far from enough to handle it. According to Merza, the 5G network must really be used for the progress of the Indonesian nation and state. Therefore, Smartfren has twice tested the 5G network using the 28 GHz (mmWave) frequency spectrum. The aim is to examine how effective the mmWave frequency is when it is used to deploy full 5G services. Starting from providing services for general users, industry, even to things that are mission critical. "Whether it's in the health sector, transportation, or anything else, we can't just rely on the low spectrum (low band). This is the main target, because currently wide bandwidth is only available on the mmWave spectrum," Merza continued.
