Indonesia Has Capital To Bring G-20 Compact
"Indonesia must submit a concrete proposal so that the G-20 can act as a unit. Like when the economic recession occurred in 1998 and 2008, the unity of the G-20 did not happen by itself, but because there was a group of countries that were able to show the spirit of partnership," said Foreign Minister for the 2009-2014 period, Marty Natalegawa
"Indonesia has an influence, which I know in the past, can bridge very sharp differences between countries," continued Marty. The G-20 is an association of 19 countries plus the European Union that controls 85 percent of global gross domestic product. The association included the US, China, India, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Britain, and France. Being the head of the organization, Marty reminded, means that Indonesia must be able to become an umbrella for the interests of all parties. In this context, being the President of the G-20 is actually a challenge because Indonesia must prioritize national interests by framing the interests of various countries into one common challenge to find common solutions. Co-Sherpa G-20 Indonesia Dian Triansyah Djani, Friday (7/1), said, so far Indonesia's diplomacy is known as diplomacy to find solutions and form a common consensus to get out of problems. This has been proven at the Asian-African Conference (KAA), the Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN, to the UN Security Council. The Indonesian presidency, which carries the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, implies the desire for all countries to join hands to face the current very challenging situation. The track record of Indonesia's diplomacy is expected to be a guide and lead to the trust of all parties to prioritize common interests.
